Epilation (Electrolysis)

Epilation is the removal of unwanted hair by the means of electricity (electrolysis) which is the most effective medium for the destruction of hair follicles and the permanent removal of superfluous hair growth.

Most people will experience some form of superfluous hair growth at some stage in their life on some part of their body, but all superfluous hair is treatable and over time can become permanently removed through epilation.Kevin performing epilation on a relaxinradstock client's leg

Unwanted hair can be due to an hormonal imbalance in the body caused by pregnancy, menopause, some illnesses, medication, emotional trauma, surgical changes or simply your genetic makeup. Fine hairs can become darker and thicker in appearance. Normally when the imbalances in the body are settled the thicker hair returns to fine hair, but sometimes it does not.

Treating the hair with methods such as waxing, shaving and plucking does give immediate, though not permanent, solutions to unsightly hair growth. Unfortunately all these ways of removing hair actually encourage the hair to grow thicker, quicker and stronger and usually to become much darker in colour which can in turn lead to frustration for the individual and in some cases deep psychological problems. Hair which has been treated in this way can remain thick and will have to be treated regularly with electrolysis.

Does it hurt?

At relaxinradstock great care is taken to insert the correct size needle in the same direction that the hair follicle is lying in the skin. The depth that the needle is inserted is also carefully performed so that the maximum effect from the current flowing through it reaches every part of the follicle. The clients reaction to the treatment is always checked to see that it is not beyond the boundaries of their endurance.

How long does it take?

The sessions are geared to how long the client wants to stay - 10, 20 or 30 minutes are the normal time periods. Overall it may take several months depending upon the extent of the hair growth being tackled.

Is it permanent?

Over time yes. If we catch the hair in its early growing stage then we are likely to see permanent removal

Can I have a taster?

Yes, please do - come along and see the studio and the equipment used and try it.
